I really enjoy the digital industry, the technology is always changing and I feel truly honoured to be part of such a wonderful industry. I studied Media with Cultural Studies; I chose one elective ‘Cyberspace’ which taught me about the internet and beyond. I remember thinking "Wow, I need to work within the internet; I need to pay off my student loan." And boy have things changed, but I’m still here!
The biggest change for me has to be social networking sites, Blogs and any form of User Generated Content. I’m excited by blogs, because it gives the creator overall control, which is no doubt quite a daunting prospect for some, but let’s embrace the technology and create, create, create.
So, what is a blog? Wikipedia defines a Blog as ‘A blog is a website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic.’
Now, if that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will!
I’m excited about Blogs because to me, they’re a form of empowerment to those who are the creative type, artists, musicians, designers etc. You can create and share your thoughts and ideas on a daily basis, obviously that depends on how often you update the blog, but to me, it keeps you as an entity fresh and dynamic, also allowing viewers or subscribers to comment. How cool is that?
I always used to write many moons ago and now, I’ve re-kindled that Love.
